Rick Ball, Chair
 
Rick is currently a Managing Director and Head of Investment Banking Division, Morgan Stanley Australia, based in Melbourne.  From 1993 to 1999 Rick was the Executive Director and then Managing Director of Head of Equity Organisation for UBS.  From 1988 to 1993 Rick was the Divisional Director and ANZ McCaughan, a then subsidiary of ANZ Bank.  From 1983 to 1988 Rick was at Arthur Anderson & Co.  Rick has a Bachelor of Commerce and is a Member of Institute of Chartered Accountants

 

Cathy Burke, CEO
 
Cathy has been on staff at The Hunger Project Australia since 1997 and became CEO in 1998. During this time Cathy has built The Hunger Project Australia into an enduring and financially competent organisation. Cathy has spent time in the field, leading many trips to Africa and South Asia. Cathy is a respected and integral part of the global organisation, working closely with the global office in New York in a range of capacities.

 

Helen Scotts, Director
 
Helen Scotts is a General Manager with Hay Group management consultants, based in Melbourne. Her expertise is in the areas of Top Team Effectiveness, Executive Coaching, Leadership Development and Performance Management. With over 16 years experience Helen regularly advises senior executives on the implementation of processes to support major business change and initiatives. She holds a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Business (Organisational Development). She is a member of Hay Group’s globally accredited team of executive coaches.

 


Heather Zampatti, Director

Heather has over 20 years experience in investment advising, providing investors with professional portfolio management. Heather’s widely acknowledged expertise in stockbroking and financial investment planning and attention to individual client needs and circumstances explain her success in providing a complete wealth management package. That combination of experience and expertise enables her to manage investment portfolios and self-managed superannuation funds for retirees, high net worth individuals and foundations.
Heather is a graduate of the University of Western Australia (UWA) with aBachelor of Science (BSc) and Diploma of Education (Dip Ed) both from UWA. She is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP).

As Head of Wealth Management, Australia, for Bell Potter Securities, Heather combines her strengths as an adviser with a leadership role to help Bell Potter achieve its goal of establishing itself as the nation’s most respected provider of wealth management advice and service.  Heather is on the board of WA Ballet and Osteoporosis Australia. Heather is on the University of Western Australia (UWA) Strategic Resources Committee and Board of Advisers for the UWA University Club. Heather is also a member of The Takeovers Panel and lectures for the Australian Stock Exchange and FINSIA and gives many public seminars.
 


Michael Rennie, Director
 
Michael is the Managing Partner of McKinsey and Company, Australia and New Zealand.  Michael is the founder and for a decade, leader globally of the Firm's Organisation behaviour practice.  This role has given him the opportunity to work on major change with some of the world's leading companies in over 15 countries globally.  Michael has recently returned to Sydney after a long stint in new York.  Michael has law and economics degrees from the University of WA, studied languages in Switzerland and has an MA from Oxford where he was a Rhodes Scholar.

Bruce Beeren, Director
Bruce Beeren joined the board of Origin Energy as an executive director in March 2000.  He retired from his position as commercial director on 31 January 2005, and continues on the Origin Energy board as a non-executive director.  With over 30 years experience in the energy industry, he was Chief Executive Officer of VENCorp, the Victorian gas system operator, when it was established in 1997 and held several senior management positions at AGL, including Chief Financial Officer and General Manager, AGL Pipelines. He is a director of Contact Energy (since October 2004), Coal & Allied Industries Limited (since July 2004) and Equipsuper Pty Limited (since August 2002). He is a former director of Envestra Limited (2000-2007) and Veda Advantage Limited (2004-2007).  He has a Science degree, a Commerce degree and a Master of Business Administration, and is a fellow of CPA Australia and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.  Bruce lives in Sydney, Australia.

Beata Koropatwa, Chair

Beata Koropatwa brings a strong track record of successful business development leadership over 19 years.  She is currently CEO of Auslaser, a Procurement and Office Supplies company where she is responsible for the company’s strategic direction, growth and development.   
Since her involvement she has successfully built it from a small business start-up, to a national corporate organisation by providing business solutions to a blue chip client list.
She is a director of eVision, a Global Technology company, specialising in B2B/BI/BPM and Web Form Solutions, automating Business Processes for companies within Australia and globally and is responsible for the Global Development of the business. 
She is a member of WCEI (Women's Chief of Enterprise International), an international organisation for women entrepreneurs and is currently Chairperson of Bayside Progress Headed by City of Bayside Lord Mayor, providing support to the local community. 
Beata has sat on numerous advisory boards and goes by the mantra “If you have, you give. If you learn, you teach.”

Mark Eddy, Director


Mark Eddy is the company Director of Network Clothing.

Mark has a Wife and 3 Children and his hobbies are keeping fit, car racing and traveling.

Mark’s favorite Charity is The Hunger Project.

 


Tom Kiing, Director
 
Board member since July 2008, Mr Kiing is also a director of Bridge Capital Pty Ltd and sits on the Board of: Clarity International, a world leader in visual intelligence software; The Atomic Group, an integrated sports and entertainment company and ASX listed Melbourne IT, one of Australia’s largest technology companies. Mr Kiing has experience in mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and strategic marketing and planning with a particular focus on branding and e-commerce. He travels extensively through the ASEAN region to promote a wide range of Australian investment opportunities to Asian institutions and private investors. Mr Kiing is a member of the Remuneration and Audit Committees.

 


Stephanie Hunt, Director

Stephanie Hunt is Director and Founder of Movers and Shapers, a consultancy specialising in innovation and business model change.  Prior to M&S, Stephanie founded and developed the retail marketing business Adair Integrated Marketing, which she started in her bedroom and grew to a $7 million business over 12 years.  Her entrepreneurial days were preceded by a 12 year career in FMCG marketing, working with global companies such as Alberto Culver and Reckitt Benckiser.

Originally Canadian, Stephanie was transferred to Australia in 1990 and fell in love with the country she now calls home.

Bruce Beeren, Chair

Sean Linkson, Director
 

Sean is currently a Partner at Talent Partners Executive Search and a 20-year veteran of the Executive Search industry.  He assists Boards and senior management recruit leaders and influencers across a wide range of industries and functions.  The study of leadership has been a long-term career focus for Sean and he regards The Hunger Project’s grass roots leadership model as one of the most inspirational.

Prior to joining Talent Partners, Sean was Managing Director of A.T. Kearney’s executive search practice, spending nine years at the firm growing their Australian and New Zealand practice. He commenced his search career with Australia’s largest human capital consulting company Morgan and Banks. In the preceding years has worked for the Australian subsidiaries of JP Morgan, Chase Manhattan and Lloyds Bank.  Prior to this, he spent nine years in project management with a leading Australian construction and engineering company.  Sean has a Bachelor of Applied Science and a Masters of Commerce majoring in Finance.  His other board appointments have included The Pinnacle Foundation and Organon Environments Pty Ltd.
 


Josh Rogers, Director
MAusIMM, Member AICD
Joshua has been involved in the resources and finance sectors in the development of private and public companies at senior executive or managing director level for 15 years. He is currently a director of Mitchell Morgan, which he founded in 2003, a boutique corporate advisory firm and fund manager with offices in Sydney and Tokyo providing specialised services in the resources, finance and property development sectors.  

In addition he is also a director of a number of both public and private resources companies including Ark Mines Ltd, Dome Mines Ltd (Fiji) and Everyday Mine Services Ltd.

Joshua is a Member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
 


Gary Hardwick, Director
 
Gary Hardwick is the Managing Partner of Ikon Communications and President of Media Federation of Australia.  Gary is also on the MFA Executive Committee and is the current MFA President.  Gary has been passionate about the advertising and wider communications industry for 25 years, is a consumer advocate first and foremost and believes in engaging the consumer through clever insights that lead to unexpected ideas at the heart of the communication itself.

Gary’s career highlights are: Y&R London and Y&R Sydney where he reestablished the media department for them over the next 2 years.  Then he was appointed the role of Director of Media and Strategy at Omon (one of Australia leading creative hot-shops in the mid 90’s.  Then Gary worked at Carat Bray Media, Ran Bray Media alongside its founder, Haydon Bray from 1997 to 1999 and won over $140 million in new business in that short time frame before leaving to establish his own agency, Ikon Communications.

Ikons’ success – Ikon entered in a two-year exclusivity period with the Commonwealth Bank before becoming Ikon’s foundation client.  Ikon also became the lead agency for both brand and the consumer electronic business for Sony.  Ikon has become on of the fastest growing media agencies in Australia with account wins including Coca Cola ($30m), Vodafone ($40m), The Australia Labor Party ($20m), Goodman Fielder ($15m), Sony Music ($10m), Colonial First State Investments ($8m), Bpay ($4m), O’Brien ($5m), Wattyl Paints ($5m)Westfield ($6m), HAL($6m) and Australian Rugby Union ($3m) among others.

Adrian Fini - Chair

 Adrian Fini is a Non-Executive Director for The Mirvac Group, a leading diversified property group active in property investment and management, property development and hotel management. 

 He is also a Board member of the Art Gallery of Western Australia, Little World Beverages, the University of Western Australia Business School and committee member for the Australian Business Arts Foundation (WA Chapter). 

Adrian is 49 years of age and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Western Australia.  He is married with 5 children.
 


Ben Lisle, Director
Ben's property experience has centred on acquisition due diligence and structuring, project management and financing of commercial property.

Ben was previously a Director and co-founder of Azure Capital and a Director of Poynton and Partners. His work there included the management of a number of major capital raisings and IPOs, the structuring and execution of large project finance packages, the management of mergers and acquisitions and provision of strategic corporate advisory services.

Ben studied mechanical engineering at the University of Western Australia, where he graduated with first class honours and graduated as the top student in his year. Ben has since completed the Program for Management Development at Harvard Business School and a Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment at the Financial Services Institute of Australia.
 

Toni Stampalija, Director

Toni comes from a diverse management background having worked across private, public and not-for-profit sectors.  Toni has acquired experience and skills in many business settings including banking, academia, health, and aged care.  In 2006 she launched a management practice specializing in strategic planning, change management and business improvement.

Prior to starting her own practice, Toni was with Amana Living (WA) as Director Corporate Services and Deputy CEO. 

Toni was the recipient of the Catherine McAuley Women in Leadership Award in 2001.  She has a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration.

Toni has contributed significantly to the aged care industry by way of various Board, Council and Committee appointments including Director of Aged and Community Services WA; Council Member of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Health and Community Services Council; and Committee Member of Aged and Community Care Australia’s Industrial Relations Committee and Training and Education Committee. In addition, she has held ex-officio appointments with Amana Living, McCusker Learning and Development, and Anglican Homes Foundation Boards.

Toni’s current board appointments include: the Royal Australian Air Force Association Council of WA; John Wollaston Theological College Council; and The Hunger Project Development Board of WA.
 


Deborah Protter, Director
Deborah is an education, mentor and executive coach.  Deborah is passionate about the development of human potential through education, training and mentoring.
Deborah has worked with governments, corporations and community-based organisation in education, women's development, public health and international development in the UK, USA, Europe and Asia.

Deborah has developed many education programs that are now being utilised throughout the world.  The programs include relationships educations, health education and programs to empower women in the developing world.

Deborah was the first director of a campaign to reduce the incidence of smoking in Western Australia, co-ordinating advertising, public relations with politicians, health agencies and health professionals.  This campaign proved to be highly successful and has been replicated throughout Australia.

Deborah was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee.
